De nada my newly found friend. It’s definitely my pleasure. I’d be crazy to share my saints. You might also google St Meigan. Tho not officially a Catholic (what do they know?) saint, she seems to have been very saintly. I feel comfortable dissing the church a bit, as I often say “I survived Catholicism, barely” 😥
When I say “barely”……I attribute 2 psychotic breaks and attendant electro shock therapy and later one nervous breakdown mainly to fear and shame the church ingrained in me from first grade at 5 1/2
Survival occurred when my second psychiatrist told me if I I had another mental episode he would probably not e able to bring me out of it. It was the single most important moment of my life and literally saved me
Damn… all the chills. You are one resilient human, and I’m so proud of you for getting to the other side. Fear and shame from the church is NOT easy to untangle from. Thank you for inspiring me and others with your survival.
One important blessing is that I don’t resent my nuns who gave me 8 years of education and love nor my priests who gave me 4 of the best years of hs education, better, imho than 4 years of college attained by many. They were all doing the very best they could with what they had received. Nor do I resent the Church, as it evolved over centuries into what it’s become because of humans. I can only go forward working to be a better person

2) No, but I’ve been happily married for many years and am not inclined to toss a grenade at that. I’ve met people here whom, if I were single and they were single, I would not say no to getting a coffee or whatever to see if things might develop, but overall no. And if they were a guy, well I’m straight so I’d be very surprised but life is too short to stick to labels so sure, whatevs.
