I’m here for the openness and raw emotion first and foremost; the humor, strike-throughs, and raw biology terminology are extra added attractions. So bring it all together in every post or not, but don’t separate your posts into two Substacks. If doing LSD in the 60s taught me anything, it’s that we are all one.
You’re a terrible human being only because all humans are terrible. Including me. Don’t beat yourself up, you’ve got the numbers. I can’t/won’t tell you what to do with your newsletter, but since you asked for an opinion, I voted C for authenticity. If I wanted some artificial person I couldn’t relate to, I’d go find me one of those YouTube/TikTok influencers who will earnestly tell me what products I need to buy to fulfill my existence. What makes your humor funny is that it stands out in spite of or even because of all the other stuff. We’re all messy too. You’re the one with the guts to throw it out there.
🥹 Thank you so much for this, Sam!!! You’re right — authenticity, even in it’s messiest form, is such a relief. Even though my brain sometimes screams in terror. 🤣 Here’s to being terribly wonderful flawed humans! 🙏✨ And, I shall bring on the C!!!
If you were sucked in by the gravitational compression of lady Victoria I have no doubt the mass of us would scream expletives and demand your return. I am here for the word play and biological spiciness that you serve up so if the newsletter has to be spread wider with a speculum then by all means show us this other side. Keep writing and I will keep reading.
I want ALL of you, I ❤️ cruising Wayfair and real estate I will never buy, and I would hang a painting of someone falling into their vagina on my wall.
💛 Thank you to my favorite julie elder!!!! 🥹 And omg DYING AT THAT LAST PART!!!! Hahahahahahaha. I WOULD BUY THAT TOO NOW THAT YOU MENTION IT. And hells yes for all the cruising. 💥
No one is one dimensional, so why would we expect you to lock yourself into one "don't color outside the lines" style? Do you based on your mood at the moment!
And omg I feel so guilty now about writing that about poor kitty!!!! She’s honestly so presh 🥹 ASIDE FROM ME SOMETIMES HAVING A BITCH ATTITUDE ABOUT HER PURRING 😂
ALL the FuCk is Welcome! It’s the mix. Get real as Fuck when it feels real AF. BTW peeling back the layers is where all the juicy juice is at. The picante sauce that oozes out of that fecking sandwich
Wayfair is cheap, plastic furniture. Shit off-gasses and breaks within years. Hit up your local thrift stores, fb marketplace, and drive around on garbage days, near the first of the month (moving days) and holidays, for solid wood pieces and quality lamps and shit. All my linens don’t perfectly match.
Find one thing you love, and find the colors from that palette . For my bedroom, it’s a tapestry. My living room is a pillow. The kitchen, a towel. Build out from one thing that brings you joy.
Yes to giving a second life to quality pieces!! 💛 While I still love Wayfair for certain finds, I agree that finding thrifted pieces can bring so much charm and character to a space! 🙏
“It either turns me on, or sucks the shit out of me.”
Those are just about the most divergent images I’ve ever heard.
What to do with the newsletter? If it matters, I vote “C”. None of us is funny, witty, charming, intelligent, or sane ALL the time. Show ALL your sides - IF YOU WANT. I’m a hectogon (look it up) myself.
Decorating? Thrift stores. Yard sales. Garage sales. Because everything is WAY cheaper than Wayfair. If you live in an upscale-ish area, Goodwill can be GOLD. The “mismatched” or “returned” gallons of paint at a Home Depot or Lowe’s can be really cheap.
I hope Amelia, you, and Victoria all have a good weekend.
😂😂😂 Those are some pretty big extremes right there hahaha
Thank you so much! 🙏 HERE’S TO SHOWING UP WITH ALL MY SIDES, ROUGH EDGES AND ALL. 🥹
And that is a great reminder, I should look into thrift options! I do that with clothing but I’ll admit it’s not my go-to with interior design. I never know what I could find.
My cat talks. Incessantly. Your cat purrrrring has got nothing on all the chatter I put up with. He also helps me write. Sometimes I wish he had opposable thumbs so he could type while I talk - which might also shut him up occasionally.
I don't know how qualified I am to participate in your poll, as I'm relatively new here. But I seem to have not been alone in choosing option C. I don't even think you need to divide it up a month at a time. Just write what you feel at the time, and those who appreciate you will enjoy it; which ever version of Megan happened to be at the keyboard that day.
lol, aside: before I got to the end, I thought you were going to ask about writing an interior design newsletter ... if that was the case, I definitely would voted for separate, but with generous cross promotion.
🥹 Todd I’m SO GLAD YOU SHARED YOUR THOUGHTS!!! New or not new, they are wonderful. 🙏 Thank you so much for your support, and my scared side is especially grateful that you called out “I don’t even think you have to divide it up… just write what you feel”. Such relief to hear that. 🙏
AND— hahahah “shame sandwich x interior design” 😂😂 That’s so funny!! And agreed, I would absolutely separate something like that. 🤣
i've gone through this question - can i publicly expand my writing style - SO. MANY TIMES! i guess that's the thing about writing: it changes you. and who are we to deny that change? isn't that the whole point after all?!
Anyway - my personal experience in changing/integrating voices has been like this. first i think i HAVE to separate it because it's "so different" and might be confusing
Then i realize that might be true, or it might be a way to keep my distance from myself
I contemplate that for a bit, feel into the energy, and usually it announces itself - either it is a separate project or not. ultimately it's about what makes you feel good as an artist.
i think the boundary can help the vision get clearer sometimes, but whether you need to bring the boundary into the public is a different question.
whatever you choose, i'd love to see all the multidimensional sides of you
i’m so glad you’re not alone either 💞 it is so easy to forget especially when it feels icky and confusing, but we always get to the other side. so happy to remind you, beauty <3
1. WELL CLEAR MY CALENDAR BECAUSE I’M GOING TO BE UNAVAILABLE FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE!!! You had me at interior design orgasms for real humans 😂😂😂 I want that to be their tagline sooooooo badly!!!
2. Thank you!!! So much. 🥹💕🫶 HERE’S TO WRITING MY FUCKING HEART OUT!!!

I pick all of you.

Shakin’ those pompoms fer ya! (not tampons)
NOT TAMPONS hahahahaha 😂 thank you 💕

Good advice!
I do that with the clothes I wear too. A necklace or scarf and I pick my pants, tops, jackets , hats in those colors.
Good advice!

We DEMAND the FULL MEGAN PACKAGE PLS! Stop hogging yourself.
WELL WHEN YOU PUT IT THAT WAY, HOW CAN I SAY NO??? Thank you for your full throttled support. 🥹💕🫶
I'm here for it and think it incredibly brave of you to go even deeper and knock down those doors. Love, Virg
Thank you!!! Feeling proud of myself thanks to your words. 🥹💕🙏 Here’s to courageously knocking down doors!!!

Most of it’s junk, but you never know. Sometimes I get ideas for building stuff. Consignment shops might be better.
My cat talks. Incessantly. Your cat purrrrring has got nothing on all the chatter I put up with. He also helps me write. Sometimes I wish he had opposable thumbs so he could type while I talk - which might also shut him up occasionally.
Hahaha that’s adorable and hilarious!!! 😂 What a chatty guy with so much to say! He should have his own CatStack! 💛
He sends out a weekly blog post from my website, Harmonysheartanimals.com. He always has something pithy to say about whatever the weekly subject is.
Awwe, I love that!! 💛💛💛
Write Baby, write! We’re here, we’ve got you in our pocket, remember?
🥹💛💛💛 THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! You’re right, you all are incredible. 😭🫶
1) I can’t stand when my cat grooms herself. I don’t want her on my lap or anywhere near me.
2) I have about a dozen tabs open on my browser and at least as many documents open on the desktop
3) I first met you in a Zoom call, where you seemed quiet, sweet, and introspective. Then I read your writing and …well, you know. 😆
So for me, both sides, or all 372 sides, would be right and natural and welcomed 🙏💚
I LOVE ALL OF THIS SO MUCH!!!
1) YEP. Lol.
2) Kindred spirits!!!
3) Chuckling right now 😂😂😂
Thank you, Don, I feel so safe to show up as myself right now. 🙏

Thank you for sharing your beautiful insight!!! And, I’m so glad I’m not alone in struggling with this! 🖤
And YESSSSS, writing and art-ing DOES change us, and growth and metamorphosis is sooo beautiful!!!
It’s so easy for me to forget that expression leads to growth.
Growth is gorgeous (even though it can be quite unsettling at times).
Thank you for reminding me of this! 🥹🫶✨
Here’s to growth. 💕
hear hear!

1. DO YOU KNOW ABOUT SPOAK.COM?!?!?! Interior design orgasms for real humans!!!
2. Don't overthink it. You write your fucking heart out, whatever you want to say. This is YOUR newsletter. 💙
